Letter to Next Year's Parents - Freebie!

Hi Everyone!
We got handed our supply list for next year a couple of weeks ago, and I have been working on updating it.  I took stock of all my many supplies and decided what to add/delete off of my list.  I swear, asking the parents to bring a ream of card stock last year was a life saver.  When I looked at the huge pile I had at the beginning of the year, I didn't think there was any way that I could go through it all, but lo and behold, I only have a pack and a half left!
Next year I am adding a small pack of expo markers to my list, I think that will help me save money, and I will be able to do a lot more dry erase activities with the kids.  I definitely don't need any more pipe cleaners or tissue paper for at least a decade!!!!
As part of my prep for next year I drafted this letter that will be attached to my supply list.

Mrs. B's Beehive - Parent Letter for next year
It lets the parents know what I am expecting out of their students for the upcoming school year, and what they can work on with them over the summer to make sure they are prepared for the start of school.  I know that not all parents will heed my advice, but there are many who work diligently to get their students up to speed before they enter my class, and their help is invaluable!

  1. Thank you so much for your letter for incoming parents. I also teach in a Catholic school (aren't we blessed?) and the boys are required to wear belts. I hope your suggestions help with the belt issues.

    1. Teaching at a Catholic school definitely has its positives and negatives (well, maybe just the one big salary negative : ), but I love my school family, and couldn't see myself working anywhere else! I've definitely had some students have accidents because of the belt issue, so hopefully this will resolve those. Yay for no accidents in the 2014-2015 school year!!!!! (Wishful thinking I know! : )

  2. Great letter! I think the first line should read "students" not "student's" as it isn't possessive. Just a thought :)
